Good thoughts on a recent and inappropriate blog post from a sitting RPS School Board member:
Yesterday, 3rd District Rep and Vice Chair Kenya Gibson published an opinion piece about the Superintendent’s “anti-democratic” tenure in DC, and branded her board colleagues’ cooperation with his administration as anti-kid and uninformed…If the superintendent was an elected official, or a political figure at all, perhaps this kind of public attack would be considered par for the course. But he is not a political figure. He is an employee of RPS, and conducting this kind of personnel review in the public sphere is in direct violation of district policy. Ms. Gibson is entitled to her position and her assessment, which — in the best interest of the district and its reputation — ought to be shared in closed session.

Today’s ride is another reminder that Vans are just the best biking shoes! Instead of the regular, morning loop around the island I’ve been doing, this morning I road along the beach as far as I could. Eventually, hard-packed sand gave way to thick, black mud, and I headed back to the network of bike paths to get home. Thanks for keeping the mud and sand off of my feet as I waded through creeks and tidal pools, Vans!

What did we call sand dollars before we had dollars?

A particularly wretched move by the Governor:
Some lawmakers said one Youngkin amendment pitted supporters of historically Black colleges and universities against undocumented immigrant students who were born in this country. It proposed to shift $10 million a year in aid for so-called dreamers to Virginia State University and Norfolk State University.
Youngkin proposed the amendment to shift the money even though the budget included $50 million in unspent funds, counting $32 million his administration had found.
via Senate deals blows to Youngkin on gas tax, abortion funding; he gets partial win on lab schools
